Later in evening, we would ride horse carriages to the Clock Tower Bazaar. Mind-boggling photo opportunities await as you head down the dunes to Pushkar lake and fairground. There could be 50,000 animals here and a couple hundred thousand people: turbaned men, rafters and extravagantly draped women, kids, camels, goats and cattle, all heading in and settling in where the action is. The afternoon whizzes by, and we’re lost in a dusty, hazy world of makeshift camps, wandering camels, charging Marwari horses, stalls selling decorations and embellishments for the livestock on sale, and animals greedily gulping water from the watering-troughs. We’ll get a good feel for all of this at ground level — and tomorrow, at dawn; we’ll get an even broader perspective from the air. Overnight at Tent.
Day 7 : Pushkar
Any time you want a change of scene, the town of Pushkar waits, huddled around the sacred lake. Here we’ll see more amazing slices of life — street stalls and traders, barbers and buccaneers, holy men and rafters, and we’ll practice the art of freezing these moments forever. Then, exhausted but exhilarated, we dine at our hotel and do another fun show-and-tell session. There is much to show, and much to tell. Overnight at Tent.
